Community-Officer Relationships

 A unique experience to foster enhanced police and community relationships, the City of Atlanta Police Citizen’s Academy’s mission is to enlighten Atlanta citizens in the daily operations and practices of their Atlanta Police Department and allow officers to better understand the viewpoints and experiences of citizens.

  • The program encourages participants to provide invaluable feedback to people patrolling and protecting our streets.
  • The officer-citizen interaction is both in-class and onsite sessions.
  • This unique experience requires a one-night per week commitment over 8 weeks from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
CLASS TOPICS MAY INCLUDE:
  • HOMICIDE
  • 911
  • FRAUD
  • USE OF FORCE
  • TRAFFIC STOPS
  • SPECIAL VICTIMS
  • SWAT
  • CRIME LAB
  • RIDE-A-LONG
APPLICATION CRITERIA:
  • BE A RESIDENT OF METRO ATLANTA
  • AT LEAST 21 YRS OLD
  • NO FELONY CONVICTIONS
  • NO MISDEMEANOR CONVICTIONS WITHIN ONE YEAR OF APPLICATION
